Hastings is growing. In 2014, we built Solomon's Lodge to accommodate the growth. Since then, we've kept growing, especially in our family camps. We're seeing more and more need for lodgings that accommodate families with young children, our senior campers, and campers with mobility challenges, not only for our summer camps, but for the hundreds of people who rent the camp throughout the year.
It is for this reason that we are planning to build Trinity Lodge. We invite you to join our mission of Making Christ Known by supporting this project for our community. The fundraising kicked off with a donation of $100,000 by an anonymous donor. Please consider supporting this project by donating.
This new lodge will contain the camp office and a large meeting area with kitchenette on the upper level and will have several bedrooms and bathroom in the lower level. The upper floor will have a walkout porch with a view of our wide game field and of the lake. It will also be fully handicap accessible.
As of the end of 2019, $260,000 of the total of $400,000 has been raised towards this project.
We hope to secure a $125,000 provincial grant towards the Trinity Lodge project, and we expect to know in July 2020 whether or not we will receive that money. Should we be successful, we will have enough funds to get started with that project. What an opportunity it would be to get started during the nice weather! Construction, as an essential service, can continue during COVID-19, provided we have the proper risk mitigation measures in place.
